Lakes in the East Lake Area

Welcome to my website! Here you will find everything you need to know about the East Lake area's fine homes and subdivisions. In addition, this page is dedicated to Lake Tarpon in the East Lake area.

Lake Tarpon

Covering a 2500 acre area in Palm Harbor and Tarpon Springs, FL

Lake Tarpon is the blue gem of northern Pinellas County. It is the biggest lake in all of Pinellas County and many people visit the lake for boating, fishing, jet skiing and water skiing every day. Lake Tarpon is famous for largemouth bass sport fishing. You can also catch bream (bluegill), gar, bowfin and catfish in Lake Tarpon. These fish are abundant in the lake and they are easy to catch. It has been named one of the Top 10 Black Bass Lakes in Florida by the Florida Fish and Game Commission. Fishing is good all year 'round but the best time of year to catch the big one is in the winter.

Public boat access to Lake Tarpon is at East Lake's John Chesnut Sr. Park, 2200 East Lake Road in Palm Harbor or at A. L. Anderson Park, 39699 U.S. Hwy. 19, Tarpon Springs, FL.  There are a few private boat ramps and docks for residents of waterfront subdivisions in East Lake. There is no speed limit on the lake, but boaters are required to travel at idle speed at all canals and within 200 feet of the shoreline. Boaters must also follow all signs posted on the lake. The Pinellas County Sheriff's Office and the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission have been quoted as saying that most boaters are safety conscious and that Lake Tarpon is probably the quietest enforcement area that the marine patrol enforces.

Currently, there are two waterfront restaurants on the lake. Sam Seltzers' Steakhouse and Jack Willie's Tarpon Turtle. Enjoy a meal and a boat ride all in the same trip!

Want to live on Lake Tarpon and enjoy the cool breeze and fresh water any time you like? In the East Lake area there are just a few luxury subdivisions that offer lakefront homes. Some of them are: Lakeplace, Lansbrook, Boot Ranch, and Eagles Cove or for a complete list, access our Lakefront Developments page. On the west side of the lake there are more lakefront subdivisions.
