East Lake High School has been one of the most sought after High Schools in Pinellas County since it opened in 1988. It has continuously received a Grade A status for the years 2000 - 2006. The mission statement: "The community of East Lake High School will promote highest student achievement by aligning curriculum, instruction, assessment and classroom learning tools in a safe environment."
East Lake curriculum is designed to broaden and deepen the student's interests and abilities. College bound students can take advantage of honors and Advanced Placement courses, dual enrollment with St. Petersburg College and executive internship training. There are Vocational programs available as well which include business, drafting, and family and consumer science. The Diversified Cooperative Training program provides on the job training also. Also offered are art, drama, and music programs as well as technology to meet the changing needs of the world around us.
Community and local business has continued to rally around East Lake High School contributing to its zest for excellence. Members, parents, students, and business partners join together and work toward one goal on the School Advisory Council. The staff at East Lake School has adopted the philosophy at the school's inception and continue to recognize their responsibility to the students and to the community. This commitment is evident in the success the school has achieved in increasing student performance and the numerous awards and recognition the school has received over the years. The staff is determined to help students reach maximum potential.
